GALLERY SOUND OF JAZZ Ron Westray + JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band

On March 5th at the Old Mill Toronto, our 18-piece band featuring some of the most talented up and coming musicians of today the JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band performed together with Ron Westray.


For 11 years Ron Westray was a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Centre Orchestra directed by trumpeter Wynton Marsalis. A long-time collaborator of pianist Marcus Roberts, Ron Westray has played, toured and recorded with many other musicians including Randy Brecker, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and the Mingus Big Band to name but a few! Since 2009, Ron Westray occupies the Oscar Peterson Chair in Jazz Performance at York University, where he is an Associate Professor in the Music Department of the School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design.

Under the direction of Musical Director Jules Estrin, as part of our Sound of Jazz Fundraising Concert Series.
